The Big Red started the day with victories in top two doubles matches to take the day's first point. Junior Venkat Iyer and sophomore Alex Sidney defeated Notre Dame's No. 1 tandem of Greg Andrews and Spencer Talmadge, 8-6. Cornell's sophomore pair of Jason Luu and Quoc-Daniel Nguyen toppled Alex Lawson and Billy Pecor, 8-5, at the No. 2 spot. Lawson and Pecor entered the weekend ranked 69th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. It's the 10th time in the last 11 matches the Big Red has won the doubles point.

Notre Dame rallied to win the match by taking the first four singles matches to be played to completion. Luu forced a third set in his match at the No. 5 spot, which wrapped up the day. Sophomores Sam Fleck (No. 2) and Kyle Berman (No. 6) were still in action when the match was halted.
